How to return back to previous task node in BPM
Hi, Whether BPM has such feature to know or locate current node's parent node that flows to it, so I can return back to its previous/parent node. Hope anyone can share such experience or codes. Thanks Vance
I can think of 2 different scenarios on this question, but don't know which you want. One is run time, where by for some reason we need to go back to the previous step. The other is Design time where we want to create a solution that is capable of going back to the previous step. For the first instance you will need to look into the token move calls available in the REST API. For the 2nd, then you need to design this into your solution. For the most part BPM systems try to avoid implied functionality, so if you are on the 3rd step of the process and want to go back to the 2nd step, then the user would have that as an option in the 3rd step and when they pick it, after the 3rd step the Process will have a decision gateway that goes either to step 4 or step 2. An output value from Step 3 would indicate if the user picked "go back" or not. This is not built into the system as there is not a good way to figure out which steps do/do not allow this behavior, how it should be triggered for your process, or the right step to go back to. -Andrew Paier
