IBM Business Process Manager

Integration BPM SAP

Hi Guys
In the integration BPM-SAP via Solution Manager.. It's necessary have adapters and therefore BPM Advanced?
I appreciate your help
Based on your description I would say that BPM Advanced may not be required. There is an IBM BPM capability called BPM for SAP "Guided Workflow". Guided Workflow is part of BPM Standard and provides integration to SAP Solution Manager as well as a general capability to surface SAP UIs into IBM BPM with very low effort (Solution Manager is not required).
Your project may also have a need for proprietary data integration (i.e. SAP BAPI), which could be fulfilled most easily with BPM Advanced or some other integration middleware.

For data integration, SAP has a very rich SOAP interface. I haven't looked recently, but there used to be a public test instance where you could experiment.

Hi daniels,
thank for your answer
In that case, which advantages have BPM over workflow of SAP?

If you are looking for a side by side comparison of IBM and SAP workflow capabilities, I can't tell you a whole lot since I've never done a comparison and I've only been in one situation where SAP's workflow was being considered. That could be interpreted to mean I'm not qualified to respond very well.
On the contrary, I think it is a good indicator about the relative maturity of SAP's workflow capabilities. I simply don't see SAP workflow in the running when customers are performing BPM evaluations (even at several "SAP shops"), nor do I see them ranked highly in the BPM space. I can't say the same about other BPM vendors. I'm not sure how broadly SAP's workflow is deployed, but of course it is used. My impression is that some subset of customers who use a lot of SAP choose SAP workflow as their default option. It the process being orchestrated is very much SAP or "all" SAP, presumably SAP workflow is more competitive.
The larger concern is that too often on SAP projects, customization of SAP is considerable and very costly. There doesn't seem to be a widespread BPM (actually BPMS) mentality by those in the SAP implementation space, despite SAP's offering.
